SCHEME FOR CHILDREN:
Most Lithuanians are rural people inhabiting an urban environment. Our grandparents were raised in large families in the countryside. The majority of our parents generation in Soviet times came to town to study and lived through conditions of uncertainty. To get married young meant a certain liberation and freedom. To most of the people marriage became a way to obtain social guarantees including access to apply for a modest car or even apartment. No one questioned mutual engagement in the professional career and family, although with the formation of new capitalist relations, the family might be an obstacle for the ultimate exploitation. What does it mean to be an artist? Is it a life time job? How do we document and represent our life? These often discussed questions naturally provoked us to excavate family archives in order to construct a portrait of artists as normal human beings, able to document their own daily life without any ideas of “making a project”. The image we follow from lens of the video camera tell us the daily life of the artists & their family members, through their children.
